Going to Class
Going to class is easy! If you have internet access and a land line or cell phone, you have all you need to go to class. There are several LIVE CLASSES per course where you, your classmates and the instructor meet for presentations, questions, case studies, ect., just like a real face to face class.  Questions are all answered during the week in the learning environment online. Significant networking occurs with other learners. Whether you do your practicum on-site or near home, you are still required to leave home for weeks at a time to complete your coursework. You go to class with other learners at a specific time and place. There are NO LIVE CLASSES, so learners have no cohort for networking and have limited contact with faculty.  You need to set your own study times, and, when questions arise, you will need to wait until your faculty member responds.  You are basically on your own during this learning experience.

Cost of Education

You only pay for your tuition and fees. Since there are no travel requirements to attend class, there are no extraneous expenses related to travel, loss of wages and being away from your family unless you choose to travel for your preceptorship. If you don't live in the city where the Program is located, you will incur travel expenses in addition to your tuition expense.  These costs include airline tickets, car rental, hotel stays, travel meals and lost wages. Community of Learning

You attend class with other learners with educational goals similar to yours. You participate in discussions, hear other's questions and comments during class times, form study groups/partnerships, and provide each other support throughout the courses. You cultivate valuable relationships that can last a lifetime. You attend class with other learners with educational goals similar to yours. Since you’re not involved in a class - nor on the same learning track as other learners - you have minimal ability to benefit from a community of learners.

You have direct access to your instructor who is actively involved in your learning progress. Program Completion
Since you’re learning in a deadline oriented program, you’re accountable for finishing your assignments and testing on time. This means you have a high probability of finishing the program and graduating! Life has many priorities, and it is easy to allow certain aspects come before your coursework when you have no deadlines nor accountability. For this reason, many distance learners never complete their coursework.
